This year, the Autumnal (Fall) Equinox occurs on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Autumnal Equinox is that point in the year when the length of day and night are equal. Moving beyond this point, nights begin to grow longer, as we enjoy the last of summers’ bountiful offerings, and soon the leaves will begin to dry and fall, as nature begins to prepare for dormancy and hibernation and we move towards that quieter time of the year.

Out walking the dogs this morning, I could feel the cool crisp undercurrent of the air underneath the warmth of mid-morning sun. The light has shifted into a cooler, less intense quality.

The persimmons on the tree in my backyard are almost ready for harvest, and I’ve already begun to enjoy their sweet delicious orange flesh from the few ahead of the harvest.

As the weather begins to shift, it’s time to start pulling out those longer, warmer layers, wrap the neck in a light scarf, and wear something besides flip-flops on the feet.

Seasonal transitions can be a tricky time, as we try to recall how to shift out of one mode and into another. What to we eat when watermelon and salads are no longer cutting it? What self care routines can we adopt as the weather becomes cooler and the nights longer? More to come on this as we begin to journey into fall… Fall recipes, lifestyle self-care routines, and so much more…

For now, please stop by the new website at sholansun.com and make sure to sign up for our newsletter if you haven’t already.
